Christmas was not going to end there. On Boxing Day 2025 our volunteers headed back to Yan Wo Home for the Elderly for a Christmas party we intended the residents to remember.
On arrival the team carried in 35 Christmas gifts, put up balloons and set the sound system, and the home filled with Christmas in short order.
Once the residents were seated in their Christmas hats and in good spirits, the party started properly. Returning to Yan Wo, our volunteers went all out with the main event โ singing and dancing, live. When the music came on, volunteers took the microphone and carried the room, while another group took to the front and danced.
Watching the volunteers give it everything, the residents were captivated and delighted. Plenty of them caught the mood and clapped and waved along with the rhythm, until the home had turned into the warmest concert venue in the city.
After the party, volunteers young and old formed a chain and handed each resident a Christmas gift and a care package in person. Watching the residents take them with those bright, contented smiles, holding our hands and telling us "LucaBridge really knows how to put on a day", left every volunteer thoroughly restored.
This was not only a party; it was about as easy and unforced a piece of contact between generations as you could ask for, with singing and dancing doing the work.
