A day of national celebration, and a day for kindness. On 1 October 2025 our volunteer team was out in force at Yan Wo Home for the Elderly in Wang Toi Shan, for a National Day distribution of care packages and Mid-Autumn mooncakes.
Our particular thanks to Wai Kee Transport Company Limited for their generous sponsorship. Because of their support we were able to prepare 20 boxes of good festival mooncakes, delivered to the home by Wai Kee themselves, so that every resident could have a taste of the season.
With National Day falling that day, the whole home was in a celebratory mood. Our volunteers arrived in uniform and on top form, greeting every resident warmly. The work divided itself up, and boxes of mooncakes together with care packages of practical health items went to each resident in person. "Happy National Day! Wishing you good health and good spirits!" The greetings, and the time spent sitting with people, did the rest.
Watching the residents take their mooncakes and packages with those bright, easy smiles, holding volunteers' hands and talking at length about the old days, the feeling in that room went right to the top. However much lifting the volunteers had done, they left full of it.
Our sincere thanks again to Wai Kee Trading Company Limited for their generosity, to all the staff at Yan Wo Home for the Elderly for their help, and to every LucaBridge volunteer who gave up a public holiday to be there.
Because of you, this National Day meant a good deal more. 🔥🎒🥮
