On the afternoon of 31 August 2025 our volunteers were still going. Making the most of August's last few hours, we headed in numbers to Sing Fai Restaurant, a place full of neighbourhood character, for an afternoon of meal and care package distribution.
A Sunday afternoon did nothing to dull the team's enthusiasm. Everyone arrived on top form and organised themselves into a very efficient operation, handing 100 hot, fragrant meal boxes together with care packages of everyday health items to each resident who came.
The afternoon sun was warm, but nowhere near as warm as the mood in the room. As they handed things over, the volunteers reminded the elderly residents to look after themselves and to take care getting home. Watching the relief on people's faces as they took a hot meal and a package, and hearing all those heartfelt thank-yous, left every volunteer feeling restored, however much lifting they had done.
A loud thank you to Sing Fai Restaurant for their full support, for preparing the food and for hosting us so well, and our deepest respect to every volunteer who made time on the last day of August to come and put in the work.
Because you keep turning up, this community stays warm. A good end to August, and we are not stopping. ❤🎒🍱
