Father and son at the top table: a charity Pokémon TCG tournament at Din Din House, with YouTuber Mimi on hand for the showdown ⚡🏆

On 23 August 2025 our charity Pokémon TCG tournament at Din Din House in Hung Hom produced more than its share of memorable moments. On 23 August 2025 our charity Pokémon TCG tournament at Din Din House in Hung Hom produced more than its share of memorable moments.

Popular YouTuber Mimi joined us on the day, but the thing nobody saw coming — and the thing that had the whole room cheering — was what happened on the tables: two of the competitors turned out to be father and son. Card games are supposed to be a young person's game, but this pair had both signed up, and the draw put them against each other.

At home they are family; the moment they sat down opposite one another, something shifted, and they became two trainers with complete respect for their opponent. The father played steadily, balanced between attack and defence; the son was quick-thinking and full of surprises. Both of them calculated damage and flipped prize cards while openly admiring each other's tactics. The room went quiet — Mimi and the other competitors included — and then got behind them both. Whoever won, the high five and the hug at the end took the warmth in that room to its limit.

That bond, well past any question of winning, is exactly what a charity tournament is for. Plenty of other families played side by side that day, and Din Din House was full of laughter and card-game enthusiasm from start to finish. Watching everyone collect their prizes and pose for photos with Mimi, our volunteers came away with a real sense of having done something worthwhile.

Our sincere thanks to Din Din House for the venue, to meowcardhk for sponsoring the prizes, and to Mimi for lending her time, and our respect to the father and son who gave us all something to remember, and to every family who took part. Because of you, both the funds and the warmth get passed along. ⚡🎒🔥🏆
