On 17 August 2025 our volunteer team visited Yan Wo Home for the Elderly in Pat Heung, a top-rated residential home, bringing supplies and, we hoped, some warmth and company for the residents.
The day was as lively as ever. Our volunteers divided the work between them and handed 35 care packages of everyday health items to residents in person. During the distribution came a moment that stayed with all of us. As we passed a package to one elderly gentleman and offered a quiet greeting, he looked at the weight of the gift in his hands and at the sincere faces in front of him, and his eyes reddened. He took a volunteer's hand and held on to it for a long time.
There was not much said, but the gratitude in that look shook everyone in the room. It brought home something real: what we hand over is not just a care package, it is the message that someone remembers you, that a younger generation is still paying attention.
The other residents were in high spirits too, taking volunteers by the hand to chat and share news, and the home filled with a very particular kind of warmth. Our sincere thanks to all the staff at Yan Wo for their help and careful arrangements, and our respect to every volunteer who brought patience and real care and took the time to understand what the residents needed.
Because of your gentle company, this community has a little more warmth in it. 👴✨
