Black rainstorm, no excuses — volunteers young and old run a flag day for Hong Kong Rehabilitation Power at Kai Tin Shopping Centre 💪❤

This was a day that showed what standing together actually means. On 2 August 2025, with a black rainstorm warning in force and heavy rain across Hong Kong, our volunteers went out anyway. Our thanks to the friend who invited us, giving us the chance to run a flag day at Kai Tin Shopping Centre in Lam Tin in aid of Hong Kong Rehabilitation Power.

What moved us most was the make-up of the team itself: not just young volunteers, but energetic elderly residents and some very bright young children too.

Volunteers of every age made their way through the storm and arrived early. Outside the wind and rain were relentless; inside the shopping centre the mood could not have been warmer. The children held their collection bags and made their appeal to passers-by in clear, sincere voices, while the older volunteers greeted every shopper with a smile. Seeing three generations doing good side by side, many shoppers stopped, reached into their pockets, and gave what they could towards rehabilitation and employment support for people with disabilities.

The sky outside was black; inside, everyone was glowing. By the end of the day the collection bags were satisfyingly heavy. Our deepest respect to every elderly volunteer, every child and every parent who came out in a black rainstorm and arrived on time. You proved the point: with enough goodwill, no weather stops us. Thank you too to the people of Kai Tin who gave so generously. 👧👵🎒
