On 10 August 2025 our volunteer team arrived at On Sum Kui Home for the Elderly in Yuen Long, carrying summer enthusiasm and a good supply of provisions, for a lively and warm-hearted care package distribution.
It was high summer, but the heat was no match for the mood in the room. The volunteers got straight to work, dividing tasks and handing 110 care packages of everyday health items and useful food to each resident in person.
More valued than the supplies was the time spent face to face — sitting with residents, asking after their health, listening to their stories. There was laughter throughout. Watching the elderly residents' faces light up as they took their packages, holding on to the volunteers' hands and not wanting to let go, that warmth going both ways got to every volunteer in the room.
Our sincere thanks to all the staff at On Sum Kui for their full cooperation and careful arrangements, and full credit to the volunteers who worked hard all day. With you alongside us, summer here is a good deal cooler and a good deal warmer at once. 👴💖
