On 9 June 2026 LucaBridge was honoured to be invited by the Hong Kong Arbitration Association to attend its Harmonious Hong Kong Charter event, bringing together leaders from the legal profession, business and the community in support of alternative dispute resolution.
The room was full of expertise, and the mood was both formal and warm. The centrepiece of the charter is a principle with a good deal of sense behind it: mediate first, arbitrate second. Through the speeches and discussions, practitioners and legal scholars set out clearly what that means in practice — when a dispute arises, start with mediation, which is measured and humane and listens to what each side actually wants, and look for the widest possible common ground; and if no agreement can be reached, then bring in arbitration, which is binding and efficient, to settle it.
That approach sits very comfortably alongside how LucaBridge has always worked in this community, where relationships and conversation across generations do most of the work. Listening to the speakers, our core team came away genuinely energised.
This was more than attending a high-level event; it changed how we think about something. Social harmony does not rest on rules alone — it needs bridges built from reasoned, tolerant conversation, and those have to be looked after.
The day opened up new lines of thinking for our community and youth work. Going forward we want to take this principle — value harmony, rely on the law — back into the neighbourhoods and into schools, and help young people and residents handle disagreement in a calmer and more constructive way.
