Two celebrations in one. On 20 December 2025 our volunteers headed to On Sum Kui for a combined Christmas party and birthday celebration for the residents โ double the good wishes, in a season made for it.
The team got straight to work on arrival: balloons up, decorations hung, birthday cake laid out along with 110 small Christmas gifts. In no time the whole place felt like the season.
Once the residents were seated and settled, the party got going properly. The centrepiece was our volunteers' own contribution โ they sang. When the music started, volunteers took the microphone and gave the room one classic after another, along with a few carols. The residents were captivated, clapping along, waving, and eventually singing with them, until the whole home had turned into the warmest concert you could imagine.
After the singing came the cake, with everyone joining in for both "Happy Birthday" and the carols, and volunteers of all ages handing out slices and care packages to each resident in person. Watching the birthday residents take their gifts with those bright, contented smiles, and hearing them hold our hands and say "thank you LucaBridge, this has been a lovely day", left every volunteer there thoroughly restored.
This was not only a party; it was proper company, using music to put a bit of warmth down roots in this home. Our sincere thanks to all the staff at On Sum Kui for their excellent cooperation, and our deepest respect to the LucaBridge volunteers who gave everything on the day โ including their singing voices. Thank you for lighting up these residents' winter.
