On 25 October 2025 our volunteers were back at Phone Factory in Yuen Long for a distribution of rice and care packages โ and the day belonged, without question, to two young volunteers joining us for the first time.
The rice and the care packages were stacked and ready when we arrived. The loads were heavy, but our two youngest helpers were not remotely put off. The moment they had their uniforms on they were straight into it.
Working alongside the adults, they passed supplies along, helped keep the queue in order, and handed 150 care packages to the elderly residents who came โ with a level of commitment you would struggle to fault. The residents of Yuen Long could not believe how well-mannered and willing these two were, and the whole place warmed up. In the clearest voices they could manage, the children offered their good wishes: "Grandad, grandma, wishing you good health!"
That greeting, arriving with a bag of rice, went straight through everyone there. The elderly residents beamed, took the children's hands and praised them to anyone who would listen โ "such a good boy, such a good girl, out doing good at that age, what a blessing." Watching residents head home with full bags and easy faces, and then watching two children soaked with sweat and still grinning, got to every volunteer present.
This was more than a distribution; it was about as good a lesson in kindness as a child could be given. Our sincere thanks to Phone Factory for their full support and for hosting us, and our deepest respect to the LucaBridge volunteers who gave everything on the day โ and to our two remarkable young volunteers and their parents. Thank you for planting something in this community. ๐ฅ๐๐พ
