On 21 September 2025 our volunteer team set out again, this time to Chung Ling Tak Fung Care Home in Prince Edward, for a visit built around company and good humour.
The moment we walked in, the volunteers greeted every resident warmly and by name where they could, and the quiet of the home gave way to something a good deal livelier. The work divided itself up, and gifts of good wishes and practical everyday items were handed to residents one by one.
For the residents, though, the gift that mattered was the volunteers' undivided attention. People gathered round, took the residents' hands, and listened to them talk about their lives. Laughter kept breaking out; some residents got so into it that they pulled volunteers into singing with them. Watching those faces open up into smiles you would call childlike, the sweat and the lifting stopped registering entirely.
Our sincere thanks to all the staff at Chung Ling Tak Fung Care Home for their help and thoughtful arrangements, which made the day run as well as it did, and our respect to every LucaBridge volunteer who brought endless patience to it. Because you came, these residents' days are warmer. Company is the longest declaration of care there is, and we are not stopping. See you at the next one.
