On 19 June LucaBridge was honoured to be invited by the Hong Kong Island Youth Federation to a screening of the film "A Love Letter to Grandma". The story is told with real sincerity and care, and it moved everyone in the room. A few thoughts on it.
Honest and finely observed. The story weaves together two generations, setting an older person's life alongside what a younger one carries forward. It never reaches for sentiment, and yet the plainest, most everyday scenes are the ones that get you.
A clear illustration of one life reaching another. The film understands what company and listening are worth. An older generation lights the way with a lifetime of experience; a younger one answers with warmth and attention. That meeting across generations is exactly what we mean when we talk about one life influencing another.
A prompt to think about community care. This is a good film, but it is also a mirror. It reminds us that in the middle of a busy city it is worth stopping now and then to pay attention to the older people and the family around us.
Watching it lined up closely with what LucaBridge has always believed about bringing generations together and looking after a community. We will keep carrying that idea into the work we do.
