Following the discussion of Shenzhen-Hong Kong opportunities at the Legislative Council on 11 May, our youth work reached another milestone on 30 May 2026. We were honoured to be invited by the Communist Youth League's Luohu District Committee in Shenzhen to take part in the "Youth Together, Chasing Bay Area Dreams" exchange.
Our young core team arrived in uniform and in good spirits. The whole programme was built around three ideas — integration, innovation and ambition — with the aim of opening a fast route for exchange of ideas and culture between young people in Shenzhen and Hong Kong.
Under the Luohu Committee's careful organisation, young people from both sides got on immediately and were quickly into substantial discussion, covering innovation and entrepreneurship, community volunteering, and the meeting point of culture and sport.
Our young representatives spoke with real energy about LucaBridge's long-running grassroots work in Hong Kong, our environmental programme and our work across generations, and showed exactly what this generation of Hong Kong young people is prepared to take on. The response from the Shenzhen delegates and organisers was warm and sustained.
This was rather more than a visit and a social. Watching young people from both places talk about the future with that much interest, shake hands, swap contact details and discuss how Luohu's position as a bridgehead for Shenzhen-Hong Kong integration might be put to use, the energy in the room was considerable.
Our thanks to the Communist Youth League's Luohu District Committee for the invitation, for their confidence in us and for organising it so well — thank you for pointing young people from both places towards real opportunities in the Greater Bay Area. And our warmest respect to every member of the LucaBridge family who represented Hong Kong's young people so well on the day.
